RSV!!!

Well....here is the rundown of our last four weeks and the lovely time we have had at the doctor's office! I think that I should apply for a part time job there so that I can just give them my paycheck since that's what I am doing already!

12.29-Audree's four month well check up weighing in at 14 lbs. 12 oz.

1.1-Jakob gets pink eye and they call in our first prescription of MANY!

1.5-My first day back to school and our first sick visit of MANY for Jakob who had an ear infection in his left ear, (mind you he had two weeks to get sick and didn't)! We were prescribed Omnicef to treat his ear.

1.9-Audree goes to the doctor and is cultured for a bacteria infection in her nose and for yucky eyes. They give us a sample of Amoxicillin until we hear back about the culture and instruct us to pick up prescription eye drops for her eyes and an antihistamine/decongestant for her nose. She weighed 14 lbs. 15 oz.

1.11-Jakob gets ANOTHER ear infection in his right ear this time. We are told to throw out the Omnicef (that we paid $55 for), and start him instead on Augmentin (another $55).

1.12-Audree begins at her new school and we find out two days later that she was exposed to RSV by the other infant in her room. We also find out that the culture comes back positive for two major bacterias in her nose and they prescribe clyndomycin (sp?) to give her four times a day for ten days!

1.17-Audree comes down with croup and given a shot in the doctor's office to open her airways. She now weighs 15 lbs. 4 oz. They tested her for RSV since she had been exposed and it was negative.

1.25-(this past Sunday)-We took Jakob back to the urgent care and saw the Pediatrician on call. His ears were so bad that they "didn't even look like they had been treated." She said that it only takes 12 hours for fluid to cause an infection so they may not have ever cleared up originally. He had raging infections in BOTH ears! She gave him a steroid shot and an antibiotic shot and we were scheduled to go back and see his pediatrician yesterday to see if they were clearing up.

1.27-(yesterday)-I went ahead and scheduled Audree to go in at the same time because her cough had now turned into a wet, shallow cough and her nose was running some. They once again tested for RSV and it was POSITIVE! :( She was given her first breathing treatment in the office. She is on breathing treatments every three hours and is still just smiling away and sleeping and eating fine. I am praying that it won't get worse. Tonight she sounded a little more "crackly" to me than earlier. She took her breathing treatment, ate, and went to sleep. She had been crying with every treatment, but this evening she didn't fuss at all when I gave her treatments to her. Dominic is staying home with her because she can't be at school until her follow up appointment next Tuesday. Yesterday, Jakob was given another antibiotic shot because his ears aren't completely healed. We go back tomorrow for another follow up on Jakob's ears and HOPE that we won't get another shot. Please pray for rest and improvements in Audree and pray for Jakob's ears! Here is a picture of Audree doing her first treatment at home. She cried until she fell asleep. By the way...she weighed 15 lbs. 8.5 oz. this time. She obviously is still eating well! She turned 5 months today! It's hard to believe!
